Marrakech the red city offers a great base for exploring the impressive Atlas mountains, the old Kasbahs of the southern slopes and the refreshing Atlantic coast. This High Atlas excursion will provide you with a great contrast to the big red city. The panoramic views from the villages surrounded by high peaks will enchant you with an opportunity of a short hike to soak the atmosphere of the Moroccan mountain and encounter the Berber people.

 

Day 1  Marrakech - Imlil - Marrakech

Meet your guide and driver in the morning at your hotel. Drive along the Haouz plain with its olive groves into the Moulay Brahim gorge to Imlil, the start point of the trekking expeditions to Mount Toubkal. The Ait Mizane valley is populated with a multitude of Berber villages perched in the hills dominating cultivated terraces. From Imlil a short walk takes you to Aremd, the highest village in this area, for a lunch with a Berber family. Possibility of extending the walk depending on weather conditions and your ability. Late in the afternoon you drive back to Marrakech.

Return drive 130 km, approx 2:30 hrs. Approx. 2 to 3 hrs walk
